Presentata nel 1966, la GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) era la versione ufficiale da competizione della Giulia Sprint GT, nata nel 1963 dalla matita del giovane Giugiaro, all’epoca in Bertone. Questi erano gli anni della presidenza Luraghi in Alfa Romeo, il "presidentissimo" stimato e amato dai veri alfisti e appassionato di auto egli stesso, aveva capito che la chiave del successo della casa del Biscione doveva passare per il mondo delle competizioni. La GTA venne prodotta sia in versione stradale che da corsa, quest’ultimo modello venne affidato al reparto competizioni dell’Autodelta che venne poi assorbito dall’Alfa Romeo.
A differenza della Sprint GT stradale la GTA era equipaggiata con pannelli della carrozzeria in Peraluman, finestrini laterali e posteriori in plexiglas e finiture interne alleggerite: grazie a questi accorgimenti il suo peso era limitato a 745 kg, 200 kg in meno della Sprint GT. Nel 1968 debutta la GTA 1300 Junior: dotata di un motore unico nel suo genere, con la testa della GTA 1600 a due candele e un regime di rotazione superiore a 9.000 giri/min, era capace di erogare oltre 150 CV. La produzione cessò nel 1975 con poco più di 400 esemplari realizzati.
La nostra GTA 1300 Junior è stata venduta nuova nel nord est dell’Italia. In seguito, venne esportata in Svezia dove è stata custodita per molti anni prima di tornare in terra natia.
Di recente è stato eseguito un restauro conservativo per riportarla allo splendore originale, questo ha compreso la ricostruzione del motore con alberi a camme profilati per aumentarne la potenza. Anche l’impianto frenante è stato revisionato. Rifinita nel colore bianco spino, questo bell’esemplare di GTA presenta interni originali e mantiene un alto grado di originalità offrendo il vantaggio di un motore ricostruito e più potente. La vettura è immatricolata in Italia, ha superato con esito positivo la revisione che è in corso di validità e dispone della fattura dei lavori effettuati per un costo di 13.922 €.

Introduced in 1966, the GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) was the official competition version of the Giulia Sprint GT, created in 1963 from the drawing board of the young Giugiaro, then at Bertone. These were the years of Luraghi's chairmanship at Alfa Romeo, the 'presidentissimo', esteemed and loved by true Alfisti and a car enthusiast himself, had understood that the key to success for the 'House of the Biscione' had to be through the racing world. The GTA was produced in both road and racing variants, the latter model being assigned to Autodelta's competitions department, which was later absorbed by Alfa Romeo.
Unlike the road-going Sprint GT, the GTA was equipped with Peraluman body panels, Plexiglas side and rear windows, and lightened interior trim: due to these features its weight was limited to 745 kg, 200 kg less than the Sprint GT. In 1968 the GTA 1300 Junior made its debut: fitted with a unique engine, the GTA’s 1600 twin-plug ‘head and revving to more than 9,000 rpm, it was capable of delivering over 150 bhp. Production ceased in 1975 with just over 400 examples made.
This GTA 1300 Junior was sold new in the northeast of Italy. It was later exported to Sweden where it was stored for many years before returning to its homeland. A light restoration was recently carried out to bring it back to its original beauty, this included rebuilding the engine with profiled camshafts for increased power. The braking system has been overhauled. Finished in “bianco spino”, this fine example of a GTA retains its original interior and a high level of originality while affording the benefit of a rebuilt, more powerful engine. The car is registered in Italy, has successfully passed the MoT and has the restoration bill for € 13,922.
